Building the capacity of persons with disabilities (PWDs) though the utilization of digital literacy skills and knowledge to meet demanding life challenges in this turbulent period is one of the core priority objectives of Inclusive Friends Association (IFA)
This was disclosed by the IFA's Human Resources Manager, Mirian Nnenna Tinat during a media discussion organized in Abuja by Advocate Broadcasting Channel.
Tina, who represented IFA's team during the intellectual discussion titled "Upskilling to Enhance Employability and Productivity " which provided the platform for discussing strategic ideas on how employability and productivity can be enhanced for youths, particularly youths with disabilities in Nigeria, revealed how IFA through the digital inclusion project with support from Disability Rights Fund - Nigeria has employed the twin-track approach to derive the promotion and enhancement of digital literacy skills among PWDs in Nigeria.
She said, " IFA as a PWD-focused organization is leaving no stone on turbed towards ensuring that opportunities meet capacity by building the capacity of persons with disabilities on digital skills"
Noting that the project is not only targetting PWDs but also other leaders of the society who have the responsibilities of making impact in the lives of PWDs in Nigeria by making workplace accessible to them. She said, "while doing so, IFA is also building the capacity of relevant stakeholders on workplace accessibility.
"This marks the beginning of media engagement on the project towards sensitizing the public on the need to create an enabling environment for persons with disabilities to achieve independent living as of right" Tina concluded.
