A group under the aegies of 'Adamawa PWDs and Vulnerable Support Initiative' has urged members of the society to prioritize promoting inclusion of youths with disabilities in all aspects of societal life.
The union made the admonishment through an official statement to commemorate the 2025 International Youth Day on Tuesday.
The statement reads partly: "today, we celebrate the energy, resilience, and creativity of youth with special abilities — breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and shaping a world where inclusion is not just a goal, but a reality"
"We believe that every voice matters, every dream is valid, and every young person — regardless of ability — has the power to create lasting change" the statement noted
While calling for urgent action by every individual in the wider society to ensure a full scale inclusion of youths with disabilities in all sphares of the social ladder, the group noted, "this International Youth Day, let’s commit to working together across generations to build communities where young people with disabilities are leaders, innovators, and equal partners in driving progress"
"Your turn: If you could change one thing in your community to make it more inclusive for youth with special abilities, what could that be"
The theme for this years' International Youth Day (IYD) 2025 is "Local Youth Action for the SDGs and Beyond" which emphasizes the crucial role youth people play in translating global ambitions into community-driven realities, emphasizing their contributions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
