What began as a chance encounter at a car wash has grown into a year-long initiative to empower people with special needs

The founder of the A.I.A Foundation recounted the story of Garba Mohammed Deaf, who once washed his car at a community car wash. “As we intended, we successfully ran the car wash for over a year. We thank Allah (SWT) for granting us this opportunity,” he said.

Following that success, Garba pursued one of his lifelong dreams: continuing his education. To support him, the A.I.A Foundation awarded Garba a full scholarship to the Special Education Center in Gombe. “Insha Allah, his dream continues to grow, and his education will advance further,” the founder added. He noted that he can now interview Garba in English text.

The original mission of the car wash was to empower and support people with special needs. Staying true to that goal, the business has since employed four additional deaf individuals, all friends of Garba. “Alhamdulillah, they are all doing very well,” the founder confirmed.

He expressed hope that Garba will one day become a role model for others with special needs. “May they no longer resort to begging, as many often do, but instead become empowered like everyone else and add value to our society. So, help us, O Allah, achieve this dream. Ameen.”
