Former Supervisor Councilor Highlights Disability-Focused Achievements in Ibadan South West

Honourable Oyedeji Olusegun Abayomi, who served as Supervisor Councilor for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Ibadan South West Constituency 2 from 2021 to 2024, has outlined a wide range of constituency projects aimed at improving conditions for persons living with disabilities.
During his tenure, Hon. Abayomi said he committed portions of his monthly salary to grassroots support across the constituency. He contributed money monthly to Wards 1 through 12 of Ibadan South West Constituency 2 through the Party Chairman. He also provided direct cash donations to members and assisted several individuals in need.
Support for Disability Organizations
The former Supervisor Councilor donated ₦100,000 on four separate occasions to the Office of the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disabilities, for distribution among Oyo State JONAPWD Cluster Chairmen. He also donated cash to the Oyo State Association of the Deaf (OYSAD) and supported several religious groups, including Muslim organizations.
Health and Personal Assistance
Hon. Abayomi assisted four persons with physical challenges regarding health issues, donating ₦50,000 through the Office of the Executive Chairman. He also paid a Personal Assistant for a hearing-impaired individual monthly from his salary.
Legislative Action
He moved a motion urging the Supervisor Council to pay tribute to the late Wole, a professor and interpreter who served the deaf community.
Employment and Empowerment
On job creation, Hon. Abayomi said he secured employment for over 12 constituents across Oyo State, with five positions specifically for persons in Ibadan South West. Several hearing-impaired individuals received appointment letters from TESCOM and SUBEB as teachers.
Palliative Distribution
He distributed over five bags of rice, garri, and farm produce to persons with disabilities, including hearing-impaired and deaf beneficiaries in the four agrarian local governments within Ibadan South West. He also distributed foodstuffs as palliatives to PWDs in Constituency 2.
Community Engagement
Additional cash donations were made to the Ward 9 Chairman and Youth Leader in Ibadan South West Constituency 2. Hon. Abayomi also organized the International Day for Persons with Disabilities and conducted training for PWDs in the constituency.
Hon. Abayomi is currently awaiting a second-term political appointment.
