Gov. Abba Mourns Late Pioneer Visually Impaired Professor, As PWDs pays Tribute

Penultimate Friday, the entire persons with disabilities community in Nigeria wake up to the shocking news of the sudden death of the first ever Visually impaired Professor in Nigeria, the late Professor Jibril Isah Diso of Bayero University, Kano

The news of professor Diso's death was broken by his family earlier on Friday which shaken the PWDs community throughout the country. 

Hundreds of individuals and groups within the PWDs community throughout the country has paid their last respect to the late Professor by sending  heartfelt tributes to the breaved family 

A former student of the late Professor, Safiyanu Ibrahim Bappah who was the secretary General of Gombe State Association of the Deaf (GOMSAD) prayed God to send mercies to the soul of the deceased.

He said, " May his soul rest in peace. May Allah grant his family, the staff and students of the Department of Special Education, BUK, and the Kano disability community the strength and fortitude to bear this tremendous loss. Ameen.

A renowned disability rights advocate by name Mr. David Anyaele,  described the visually impaired professor as an inspiration to many of the disability rights activist in his words of tribute.

"I received with sadness the news of the death of Prof. Jibril Isa Diso, an erudite scholar, and disability rights advocate." he noted

In a condolence message to the erudite scholar's family posted on his official facebook page, the Executive Governor of Kano state His Excellency Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf says "we extend our deepest condolences over the death of Professor Jibril Isah Diso, on Friday"

 "Prof. Diso was a pioneer professor with visual impairment in the country, whose contributions in shaping the lives of many would remain indelible" 

"Indeed, Kano State, and the whole academia have lost a compendium of knowledge whose sudden passing away leaves a wide void difficult to fill"

"May the Almighty Allah grant his soul eternal rest and Jannatul Firdausi be his final resting place" the Gov. added

Until his death, late Professor Jibril Isah Diso was known by many for his magnificent contributions to  campaign and struggles for the passage of the Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018 and the establishment of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities. 

His contributions to the field of knowledge could not be  quantified, especially in the special education areas where his pioneering efforts have left an indelible mark on the academic community.
