In a groundbreaking efforts to cusion the lingering effects of the current economic challenges rocking the country which brought untold hardships to millions of citizens particularly persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in the country. The Leprosy Mission in Nigeria in collaboration with Swedish International Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and SMC had put smile on the faces of PWDs community of Niger state by empowering and equipping them with relevant start-up Kits to boost economic activities among persons with disabilities in Niger state.
The event which is targetted at eradicating poverty and promoting self-reliance among the PWDs community and other economically disadvantaged groups in the society align with the TLMN's mission of empowering life and eradicating poverty among the lessprevileged members of the society as well as ensuring a zero leprosy and zero disability in Nigeria
The TLMN's Niger State Coordinator Mr. Habila while presenting the start up kits on behalf of National Director of The Leprosy Mission in Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Ude, to the persons with disabilities in Niger state explained that the project was essentially aimed at improving the living of the beneficiaries, he emphasized the need for the judicious use of the items by the recipients in order to meet the stated Objectives of the empowerment project.
Receiving the start-up Kits on behalf of the state government Haj. Hajara Ndayko (Director Rehabilitation at Niger State Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management Affairs) admonished the beneficiaries to make good use of the items in good way.
Ndayko also expressed immense gratitude to the TLMN management for showing love to persons with disabilities in the state and wished them well in their future endeavors.
In his remarks, the Niger State chapter Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Ibrahim Ndako, thanked the Leprosy Mission in Nigeria for providing start-up kits to his members, promising to monitor the beneficiaries to make sure they have make a good use of the items, stressing that any beneficiary found to be selling the items provided would not be tolerated.

He also called on governments at all levels and other organizations similar to TMLN to emulate the good works the Leprosy Mission in Nigeria is doing to make life better for the neglected segment of the society.
The start-up Kits distributed ANN gathered include sewing machines, assorted computers, printers, saloon materials, freezers etc.
