The National president of the Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) Mallam Haruna Muhammad has reiterated the NNAD's commitment towards entrenching inclusivity for all persons with disabilities in Nigeria regardless of the existence of different degrees of disabilities among different clusters of PWDs in Nigeria and the world at large.The NNAD's president made the disclosure while speaking at the wo-day stakeholders meeting held between 18 + 19 December, 2024 which focuses on the implementation of the Makaresh Treaty in Nigeria organized by the National Association of Blind, with support and partnership from Sightsavers International in Abuja.
The meeting which took place at Dennis Hotel was graced by several prominent personalities from different clusters of disability groups and other non-disabled persons. The NNAD's contingents that graced the occasion including the national president Mallam Haruna Muhammad accompanied by NNAD's National Secretary General, Mr. Engr. Timothy Adejumo, Katsina State Association of the Deaf (KSAD) Public Relations Officer, Sani Umar and sign interpreter Mallam Abdulkadir MB Umar
Delivering the NNAD's goodwill message on behalf of the NNAD executive members and the over ten million Deaf Nigerians, Hon. Haruna emphasized the NNAD's commitment to collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to promote braille and other writing devices for blind individuals.
According to him, "this meeting underscores the NNAD's undying dedication to fostering inclusive partnerships and advocating for the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities in Nigeria"
He added, "we assure you all that our organization remains totally committed to fostering Inclusion for all categories of PWDs in Nigeria and the global stage"
"We have shown this in all our numerous past dealings with the blind community and we will continue to show more for all clusters" he noted.
