All Set for ASAD/NEAD Joint Summit in Yola

Preparations for the hosting of the 2nd North East Association of the Deaf (NEAD) and that of the Adamawa Association of the Deaf (ASAD)'s 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) has reached it's zenith Tuesday with the hosting State expecting the arrival of various state delegates across the six North Eastern states that make up the NEAD and delegates coming the 21 Local Government areas of Adamawa State.

The joint summit,  which was earlier scheduled to commence from Tuesday 14th and end on  Friday 17th October, 2025 (arrival and departure innclusive) has now been shifted to commence from Wednesday 15th to Friday 17th October, following the untimely death of the son of NEAD president Hon. Bashiru Usman Kellumi, whose 18 month old son late Yusuf Bashir died on Sunday 12th October, 2025 barely two days to the commencement of the summit. 

According to the ASAD chairman, Comrade Colman Christopher, the programme is planned in Partnership with relevant organizations including the Adamawa State Government, the Ziralei Foundation, The Goodness Fredrick Foundation, the Initiative for Justice Development and Peace Building in Nigeria (JDPC), the North East Development Commission (NEDC) among others. 

The summit is expected to be attended by who is who in Deaf community across the North East geopolitical zone and other zones in the country, notable among the diginitaries expected to grace the august occasion including the National President of Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) Hon. Haruna Muhammad (Garkuwan Kuramen Arewa), who will take the role of keynote speaker, North East Association of the Deaf (NEAD) President, Hon. Bashir Usman Kellumi (host), Hon. Musa Saleh, NEAD Secretary, NEAD Excos and  BoTs, Chairmen of various Deaf Associations from six states of the North East zone, Deaf Teachers from different States in the North East, representatives of the Adamawa State Government, representatives of partnering NGOs, among others, are all expected to make physical presence at the historic event, Ability News Network reports.
