Treat Us Like Other Constituents, Persons with Disabilities Tells Sen. Mohammad Sani Musa

By Yusuf Mohammed Lawan, Gombe, September 5, 2024

Members of a political group under the aegis of APC Niger  East (Zone B) Disability  Movement has expressed serious concern over the non-inclusion of their members in  the Niger East constituency projects carried out by Senator  Mohammad Sani Musa, a senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Niger State.

This was disclosed by the leader of the group Comrade Musa Inuwa in a press statement released  by the group on Monday

Listing the countless contributions  made by members of the APC Niger  East (Zone B) Disability  Movement in the build up to 2023 general electioneering campaign to ensure the victory of Senator Mohammad Sani Musa,  Inuwa stated "we supported Sen Mohammad Sani Musa's senatorial ticket because we had seen how he empowered  so many people, provided  scholarship to many and he's one of our patrons in which I'm interested about how he go with his political affairs that was how I decided to create an organisation called APC Niger East (Zone B) Disability Movement"

"We have  organized about so many  strategic programs in honour of Bago/313 including holding of press  conference to  disseminate Senator Musa's  outstanding achievements to  the good people of Niger East to know our Vision and Mission for Bago/313 campaign  movement, we have mobilized all persons with disabilities from various 9 LGAs to establish local units in their respective  LGAs to enable us reach out to our people at the grassroot areas  and also encouraged them to make donations of  #30,000 each to support the Bago/313 movement"

Comr. Musa Inuwa presenting campaign T-shirt donated by PWDs supporters to Sen. Mohammed Sani Musa, Niger East Constituency prior to the 2023 senatorial election

Other political strategies employed by the group according to the Disabled Leader include  "officially welcoming the decampees who are persons with disabilities from opposition political parties such as PDP SDP and others to our great party (the APC) for our principal aspirant BAGO/313, ensuring the active participation of persons with disabilities in the electioneering campaig as well as gaving out  40 books of sign language to the Niger state school for special education Minna in the name of BAGO/313"

Emphasizing further that the contributions of persons with disabilities to the resounding victory of the ruling party during the 2023 general elections, Comr. Inuwa added "we have successfully presented appointment letters to several prominent politicians within Niger East constituency to serve as our patrons with distinguished senator Musa as our grand patron"

"Campaign T-shirts and face caps were also produced in large quantity by our group and distributed to  people with Disabilities from various 9 LGAs of Zone B and others as part of   our contributions to his political Campaign"

"We capped this with a more comprehensive  presentation of  book (containing Sen. Musa's biography and achievements as a Senator representing (Zone B) to people with Disabilities from various 9 LGAs of Zone B"

Notwithstanding the myriads of contributions  and total commitments demonstrated by the PWDs supporters towards the realization of Victory achieved by the APC in Niger East constituency and especially to Sen. Musa's causes, zero attention was given to the PWDs by the Senator. A development according to the group leader that prompted a wide range of complaints and disappointments from the constituents with disabilities, ANN understands

Raising the dust of disappointment on behalf of the PWDs constituents Comr. Inuwa noted "during our campaign mobilization,  I got accident  four(4) times but Alhamdulillahi I am alive"

"I have never asked 313/Bago anything, and  nobody supported us because we're not after the money but development to our communities and pray for 313/Bago's victory at the poll"

He added, "why we are disappointed in Sen. Mohammad Sani Musa was that he promised to appoint one of us (preferably my humble self) as DG persons with Disabilities under his campaign council but unfortunately he failed"

"I wrote a formal letter to him on our people with Disability's complained that our Leaders never care to share materials whenever political leaders directed the materials to local government and people with Disability never benefits anything"

I also suggested that he should assist people with Disability for Ramadan. One day I came to remind him, he saw me outside never say anything I stayed from morning to night around 12am mid night he saw me and never say anything, I decided to sleep there on a seat till  morning during Ramadan time I don't even eat anything yet but observed  my fasting"

One day, I came to National Assembly to present an Award to him for been the winner for the second time, he said don't want to see me that is where I promised will never bothered about him but the truth is Sen. Mohammad Sani Musa never see  something special in us the PWDs, which literally begets  question if our people are merely  used and  and dumped in the dustbin? How can a politician behaved like this?Is he really a democratic leader or draconic leader?"

"Lastly, I want Sen.Mohammed Sani Musa to bear in mind that I'm trying my best to see that people with Disabilities derive pleasure in his administration and I'm not there for my personal interest but for the people I represent that is people with Disabilities" Inuwa said
